I am a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and disruptive behavior disorders. I have a background in both clinical and developmental psychology, and I work with children, teens, and adults. My approach is informed by evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depressed Adolescents (IPT-A), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, Organizational Skills Training for ADHD, and Parent Management Training to support parents around responding to challenging behaviors. These approaches work best when we can develop a strong therapeutic relationship. Accordingly, I prioritize creating a warm, supportive space for us to work together toward the goals that are most important to you.

I believe we all have an innate wisdom and strength to grow from life's challenges and heal from painful experiences. The key lies in learning from our experiences, both past and present, and letting that acquired knowledge guide our futures. Therapy is your journey. It's my honor and privilege, as your therapist, to walk alongside you and help you process your story- creating room for insight, forgiveness, healing, and growth. I specialize in helping people build healthy relationships, overcome trauma, live well with chronic illnesses, and move through life transitions. Your challenges in life are as unique as you are. So we’ll work through them together at a pace that is comfortable for you. I utilize therapeutic techniques that build upon your strengths, challenge harmful thought patterns, offer validation and empathy around trauma, and help ground you in the safety of the present moment. It takes a strong person to recognize that something in their life doesn’t feel right and make the decision to reach out for help. I applaud you for your strength and commitment to your wellbeing. Remember, you are not alone. Feel free to reach out for a free phone consultation. We’ll talk a bit about what’s been going on in your life and how I can help.

If you are queer, trans, neurodivergent (including personality/dissociative disorders), or a survivor of trauma, I’d love to work with you! I use a blend of several trauma-informed modalities; my work is grounded in Relational-Cultural Theory & anti-oppression frameworks. Offering multiple discounted sliding scale slots to those who can't afford my rate. Educated, licensed, and in clinical practice since 2018 in the Bay Area, CA, I'm a licensed therapist (LMFTA) who recently moved my practice to Durham. Primarily trained in Gestalt therapy, as an integral therapist I also pull from IFS, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and other somatic, experiential, mindfulness-based modalities. Anxiety, depression, chronic illness, infertility, loss, explorations of identity, communication issues, deepening intimacy, and building trust are a few of the challenges that bring clients to me. I'm passionate about supporting connection to core self and aliveness. Through interventions specific to your challenges, we'll invite new ways of being that are more in alignment with what you choose for yourself. For couples, we'll identify stuck patterns and the needs driving them, then practice new experiences of soothing, connection, and safety. I approach therapeutic work with collaborative, non-judgmental curiosity. I respect your unique subjectivity and encourage exploring the relationship between you and me as part of the therapeutic process.

Healing happens by moving through things, not by trying to go around them. My focus in the counseling work I do has long been in the fields of grief and substance use, especially in terms of where grief / loss has fed addictive behavior. It makes sense. Big feelings are uncomfortable, especially the ones we consider negative. It is understandable that we try to avoid those feelings but the reality is it doesn’t work. In my work with people I support them in gently and compassionately facing the things they don’t want to face, whether grief, addiction, anxiety, trauma or a more general sense of not being the person you want to be. We work together to identify patterns and beliefs that are not supporting you, then explore new possibilities. My approach is holistic, incorporating body/mind/spirit. I draw upon deep listening, skillful inquiry, reflection, and psychoeducation as called for. Modalities I work with include CBT, DBT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and parts work. I believe deeply that healing is available to everyone, but it takes work. I provide a safe space for you to explore, vent, question, process, heal, and grow. If you have a sense I may be able to be of help to you, I offer a free 20-minute consultation for us to discern if we would be a good fit.

Seeking support takes strength and I strive to create a welcoming and safe environment. Guided by my belief in every person’s right to be whole and heard, I have helped clients navigate many challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, difficult emotions, life transitions, hard to change behaviors such as substance use, career concerns, parenting concerns, and relationship challenges. I enjoy helping adults of all identities move towards healing and their life goals. My style is warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental. I take a compassionate and strengths-based approach to therapy. I integrate CBT (for how thoughts and actions influence our emotions), DBT (for skills, behavior change, and support), Motivational Interviewing (for clarity) and Interpersonal Therapy (for building healthy relationships) into therapy. With a background in social justice advocacy, I work to incorporate an awareness of oppression into my work and strive to be LGBTQ+ affirming, anti-racist, take a health at every size approach, and provide culturally relevant services. I would be honored to connect.

English  |  español My "best" successes came from people who finally gave up on what wasn't working for them anymore and came in with an open mind. This worked with issues of anxiety and depression, habits that people didn't want to continue doing, relationships that felt broken, and coping mechanisms that used to work but then began to create more problems. I thoroughly enjoy working with people who are ready to get their lives back on track. I have a personal and family history that have made me sensitive to traumas and the results of poor decision making. I really hate the expression, "If I can do it, anyone can!" And yet, it's so true. Fortunately, it's much easier to see things clearly when it's happening to others and not ourselves, so ... experience + objectivity = success Over the years, I started to see how we "helpers" were creating victims out of people instead of allowing them to grow by learning new skills, gaining clarity, and understanding how amazing they actually are. I get thrilled when I watch people surpass their own expectations, and look forward to future experiences. Never doubt your own strength and abilities.

People often seek therapy when they feel stuck in suffering and want to make changes in their lives. These changes can involve making difficult choices, moving in a new direction, and learning to cope with past or current painful experiences in order to exist and move through the world in a new way. I respect the vulnerability involved in seeking help and work to build the connection and safety needed to support clients in both desired growth and acceptance of present realities. I value being kind, authentic, playful, and thoughtfully honest as a person and as a therapist. I have over ten years of combined experience in private practice, eating disorder treatment in all levels of care, and community mental health. I specialize in working with adults and adolescents experiencing eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, mood, and relationship difficulties. I like working with folks who are ready to work towards change in their lives. My approach to therapy is collaborative, creative, holistic, and individualized based on each client's needs, goals and feedback over time. I use dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), sensorimotor psychotherapy (SP), EMDR and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). For folks wishing to address body image issues/disordered eating, I use a HAES approach.
